How many portable toilets should you hire?
The easiest way to work out how many toilets you need for an event is to considering three primary questions and use our handy table guide below as a starting point:
- How many guests are you expecting in total?
- How long will your event be?
- Will there be more women than men? If there are, then increase the total number of toilets to avoid queues. If you’re expecting more men, consider dedicated urinal units.
- Are drinks being served? (If it is, increase the estimated number of required toilets by 20%)

Important considerations
If your event is taking place over a few days, work out toilet requirements based on the highest anticipated attendance. You should also always have a minimum of one handicapped toilet available at any public event, and at least one handwash station for every four toilets.
